People are all like “I don’t like it” and “it doesn’t sound as good as their old stuff”. Blatantly, Yes ofc if has some essence of their old stuff, most bands tend to sound like their past selves. And this is just my opinion but I feel like tools music usually needs to be listened to as a whole and multiple times to even be able to take in all of the different aspects of the music. Idk that’s my 10 cents 🤷‍♂️

It sounds like Tool, which is a good thing. This could easily have been released 10 years ago though. I'm just a bit disappointed in the whole thing. I've seen Tool 4 times, all when the Rev was still fronting the band, not backing it, and they were obviously incredible. I just can't get into it. Even tried extra bonghits. Nothing. I'm so glad for their recent, enormous success. Hopefully a new generation will get opiate, undertow, and aenima blasted into their brains.

What a wonderful way to address the anti-vax issue! @Danny, @Justin, @Adam, @Maynard: it is a pleasure to hear from you again. When you play together the pieces fit, don't let them fall away.

This totally uses the fettuccine sequence. And I can tell by all of the strands of sticky gluten and the choice of soft texture or al dente, combined with the egg, that Tool really knows their pasta.

I waited 13 years for this?

  11. back-to-the-fact

    back-to-the-factHace 2 horas

Exactly. However I wasn't waiting for it, really, so it wasn't as huge a letdown as it is to some people. But, yeah, I think they made this up the night before the album needed to be finished, and spent an all nighter trying to finish something, just so they could hand it in on time and get a passing grade. Unfortunately, they failed. Maybe they should have spent more than a half-an-hour coming up with a song that they made between naps on their all nighter. Someone was half asleep and in a drowsy state as they produced this track, because if they were wide awake, they would have said, "what is this shit we just created?". It's like a song you might expect them to make when they're in their 70s, and their motor functions have slowed down very noticeably to where you can hear it in their snail's pace playing.

Second coming to Tool? More like the 101st lol. And each time it always sounds the same. They hold out for 10+ years just to build hype, when in reality it's all about the money there not making from streaming. The record company is and if they had the balls and money that Metallica and Motley Crew have the would but the masters so they could make every penny that's owed to them. So in short, stop cheating the fans over a few dollars and make an album that sounds like something new. Until then I will listen to Slipknot and the new album that just hit number one.

  20. Lisa Lucas

    Lisa LucasHace 4 horas

Brown Westmoreland as if every recording Slipknot put out doesn't sound exactly alike. And that's okay, it's called an opinion or personal taste. Tool has a unique sound that comes through all of their music and thank fucking God because that sound is amazing! But not every album is the same, if you listen from the first album through to this release you can hear the band's evolution, their growth musically and lyrically. Personally I think this song has an old school feel I'd say this would have fit nicely on the Aenima album. But I know this is just a teaser and the rest of the album is going to kick ass.

The intro is totally like Dead Can Dance, check out that band if you like the beginning. I am NOT say that as a negative, its a good thing. DCD are another mind blowing band everyone should get into. Love Maynard's vocals on this, they completely flow over the music and the lyrics are great. He doesn't get enough credit as a lyricist, more for his voice alone. Danny's drumming is totally insane on this and is like fireworks throughout.

  89. Dana Raven

This music is really pretty weird and dark. But... I kinda like it. The instruments they use fit together really well, especially the tablas. The droning guitar has a beautiful ethereal tone mixed with all this off-time rhythm and interesting layers. Yeah...it's very well produced and so far away from all the stupid pop shit they play ad nauseam! Whether you like this band or not, at least they're doing something unique and artsy. Now if only other bands would do the same and follow a path far away from formula music being shoved up people's asses:) lol
