For more, don't miss the first episode of Vox Borders: Colombia. Johnny Harris traveled to Cúcuta, a city on the border between Colombia and Venezuela to see how the country is handling a massive wave of refugees fleeing the economic crisis. Watch: esreporter.com/v/v%C3%ADdeo-NU0RqwweuWY.html

Ok so they were the richest country in SA, but who had all the wealth?! Not the middle or lower class. You have to mention this before trying to portray Venezuela as ever having a strong middle/lower class. They have been dwindling since the 90's.

The USA creates desperate situation thru sanctions and kidnapping money that’s legitimately Venezuela’s with the excuse of “dictatorship” this guy was elected legally there were international overseers like ex president Carter amongst others who agreed that the man was elected fairly. Maduro is not the one punishing his country... at least not by himself. The USA does most of the damage. With disgusting pple like Mike Pompeo and even Trump himself looking for any excuse to go and steal whatever resources they got to offer. With sanctions comes inflation with inflation comes public unrest and chaos. This video sounds like it was made by Fox rather that Vox.

The whole point of socialism is reaching communism, but with a failed economy since it abolishes high and middle classes to bail out the poor (which is the class that doesn't generate jobs on a big scale). This is why I liked Yang, his human-centered capitalism made more sense to me. Im sad he had to suspend his campaign for now. America ignorance is growing to that of Mexico and later on Venezuela, fueled by poverty and lack of employment.

The system was doomed to fail.. all the eggs were put in the oil basket. Oil faltered so the economy faltered..As a result it caused the system to fall. Maduro never readjusted their spending. As you can see from this video they show how even Chavez's plan was doomed to fail in time.

Those people were promised welfare, free universities, and universal health for all by Chavez. They wanted it now they have to enjoy it that what socialism has and I cry every time people fantasise it. All in all, they ran out of other people's money

Monopoly is always bad. Giving the government unrestricted power in the hope that they lift the poor is a recipe for disaster, because it only take one corrupt person to use all that power of the government to oppress the people. Think Stalin, Mao.

  58. Randomodbuild

    RandomodbuildHace 10 días

@ROFLCOPTER There was a private sector in Venezuela. Then all the welfare programs required excess taxing from them, who promptly left. Now they are trying to control the oil sector with the government, which will not go well for them, given the people who knew how to run companies in a proper democracy (with somewhat open marker) left.

  60. Astral Projection

    ROFLCOPTER also Liberals love Socialism.

  64. ROFLCOPTER

    ROFLCOPTERHace 10 días

Not really. Venezuela is/was a social democracy, comparable to most european countries, including the nordic ones. The main problem was making the wrong decisions buisness wise. Having a large part of your economy based around a state that is run by oil is a bad idea, especially when you are in bad terms with the western word for being a bit more radical (still, it isnt really socialist, there was and still is a huge private sector in Venezuela). Chavez wasnt a good leader and Maduro is by no means better. Also: Liberals hate Socialism...or Social Democracy.

@ROFLCOPTER Not at all. The Nordic countries and the UK played around with socialism in the 70s, but it didn't work and they de-nationalized almost everything. Venezuela on the other hand, punished all producers in the country and nationalized everything, so that investors fled.
